Police: Spyderco's most influential?

Although the Mariner was the "father" of the Police model, IMO the Police is the direct and indirect influence of a great many knives out today. Its influence is seen in the Endura, Delica, Ladybug, Rookie, Standard, Military, Benchmade AFCK; and, by association with the latter, BM's TSEK; and the original Ascent series.

The Police has been around about 14 years and is still going strong. That says a lot, considering nowadays in the "tactical" knife market, a model that's been around 5 or 6 years is often considered "old" or "outdated." In fact, the SS-handled Police has outlived many of its descendants. I have so many Spydies but I eventually keep coming back to the SS Police as my favorite. Now with its blade updated to VG-10 I want another one, which can be good or bad.;)

The Police has of course been upgraded, like all classic knives have been, but it's still very much the recognizable design it has always been. I prefer the hollow saber grind over the flat saber grind on my Spydies, and I'm glad the VG-10 version apparently has retained this. Honestly, I don't "need" another Police but what can I say?

Its a great design, just like the Buck 110. Even though time passes and trends change, they still appeal to people.:)

When I first got into the knife habit the first knife that really caught my attention was a SS SE Police. I think it's a great knife and hopefully soon I'l be able to get one. Right now I have the G10 version.

The CF version I'm sure will be an excellent piece too but for me the SS Police is a classic.
