Police vs Military

For those of you who are lucky enough to own both Police and Military- which one do you think is the best as a tactical/combat knife?

By tactical/combat, do you mean explicitly knife fighting or do you mean a hard use with a potential for self defense? I think the Military is a superior all around use design since the blade has a better grade of steel and the blade itself has a deeper belly which is better for slicing. The Police
has a finer point and is more dagger like. I don't know but I suppose it would a better thruster but the Military a better slasher. This is just my guess because I really know nothing about knife fighting.

Stabbing wise, the Military blade has better filing but the Police feels more solid and also feels better for pommel strikes and fistloads. The Military is a good cutter and both are okay in terms of indexing. I'd fight with the Police first then the Military.

Check out this review of the Military from Fred Perrin:

I believe the Military is an excellent tactical folder. I would choose it over the Police.

I own both, both are awesome!

Ideally the military is better all around tactically. but since the police is alittle more discreet(sp?) and doesn't look as huge as the military. so I carry the police to places that I don't want to attract as much attention if I have to open it. plus I do think the linerlock is alittle better than the lockback on the police

even though he was an enemy of mine, I had to admitt that what he had accomplished was a brilliant piece of strategy. first he punched me, then he kicked me, then he punched me again.

Both are great knives, but if I had to choose only one it would be the Military. I would take the Chinook over both if I was looking for a similar type of usage.

Of course my favorite tactical Spydie is the... well you can probably guess.

I have the Civilian, Military, and the Police. Of the three, my first choice for utility and for self defense is the Military. The ergonomics of the handle in combination with the size and design of the blade fits me so well that I don't think there is any contest.

I did some thrust testing with all my folders and found that by using the inside curve at the back of the handle as a finger groove for my third finger, I can secure the butt of the knife against the palm of my hand and have a rock steady grip. It also extends the effective length of the knife about an inch. The Police model just doesn't do this for me. Don't get me wrong, I love my Police model, but I can only carry so many knives.

For now, my Civilian with the clip repositioned for left hand carry goes in my left pocket and my Military in my right.

All you need is love... a sharp blade and a full clip
