Police Without 'POLICE' on the Blade

I read some time ago that there was perhaps a plan to no longer produce the Police with 'POLICE' written on the blade. Any word on this? I'd favor this, as I'm not a big fan of lettering on blades above the tang.
 
The newest VG-10 polive just has a small bug on the blade.
 
I agree. I hate the writing on the blades.

For a short window in time, the Stainless Police was made without the etching.

I was lucky enough to score one each (serrated/plain) in the old red boxes that have those "sterile" blades.
 
Hi Guys
the Al and Tuffram C07s were also made with sterile blades.
Didn't know the latest SS ones didn't have POLICE on them, thank for the info.

Sweet! I'll have to pick one of these up also. I always hated how that knife said police on the blade... it made me feel like a wanna-be. To bad the dent will still be there :(
 
That's good to know. Thanks. Also, I too have avoided this knife as, being a non-LEO, I wouldn't feel comfortable carrying equipment in public labeled "POLICE", just as I wouldn't wear clothing in public labeled that way either.
 
I've looked high and low for photos of the new Police, but can't find any. Does anybody know if any are available, or when they will be?
 
Wish they'd bring back the Police with a G10 handle - sorry I missed that one. The metal handle is too thin and slick for me.

Seconded. SS handles are not for serious cutting! (although they are so cool...)
 
I read that the Spyderco forums that such a knife does not exist, and the new ones have a bug as well as the word POLICE on them.

I use SS handles for serious cutting with no problems at all. In fact, I much prefer them for serious cutting b/c they are stronger. I’ve used them with wet, greasy, and sweaty hands during heavy cutting chores & never had my hand slip… maybe I just have sticky hands. I do agree about them being cool though.

It sucks that it appears "POLICE" wasn't removed from the newest Police model... I was so excited :(
 
Well guys I swear that I saw a pic of the non "Police" with just the black bug on Ebay quite a few time but I just checked and there doesn't seem to be one. I just checked the new online catalog as well and don't see it there.While it doesn't really matter to me whether it has "Police" on it or not it might has just been me imagining and maybe a little wishful thinking. I don't know, but I apologize.
