I have a number of stag handled folders and straight blades that I need to do more to protect and polish; take the fading off and brighten 'em up. What would you folks recommend, I do not have polishing wheel....Thanks Mike:confused:

I would say first try water and soap on a scrubber (plastic soft bristles) then oil it, a lot of people like soaking in mineral oil for a day then drying off the excess.

If it's really bad you might try a very soft fine hair brush with a metal polish (Flitz is highly recommend, I like Mothers Mag) and polish it up, and use a cloth to polish up the smooth parts then treat with mineral oil or a sealer.

Don't use any oil. It's not good for the stag.
You can buff the smooth spots with Simichrome, Flitz, etc. on a shop rag. Put the polish on the rag and rub it into the cloth. Buff the stag briskly.Don't use so much polish that it gets into the grooves in the stag.
Then use a paste wax (neutral shoe polish works well) and coat the handle. Polish it off with a soft cloth.
