I'm about to buy a G10 Griptilian from a local shop here and it has the first production run and numbering on the back of the blade. I'm not a huge fan of the extra writing on the back, is there an easy way to polish the blade to remove that without discoloring/changing the original finish?

My apologizes if this has been discussed before but couldn't find it in search.

Thanks in advance!

That's going to be a problem. The laser etching is deep and will be very hard to remove. Was it me I'd send the knife up for blade replacement. PE satin $30, BK coated $40.

With you patatom, I don't like a lot of Graffiti on my blades :)(not a collector).
I used 400, 600 grit wet / dry sandpaper(carefully) to remove and what was left was a nice satin finish.
If you do this, use care.

Yeah, I am not a fan of all that writing on the blade either. I wish it wasn't there. I have it on my 555-1 Mini Grip.

Simple answer; don't buy a model with the info lasered on. Here's two photos of my 710D2 after many hours of hand polishing, and the faint markings were still visible.

In the end I gave it to a client as a gift and he was thrilled.

I actually ended up getting the thumb stud/drop point version of it because it didn't have the writing and was a good price ($155). The one I was looking at with the writing had the sheepsfoot blade and thumb hole ($179).

Love this knife so far, coloring is awesome, ergos is great, smooth as butter, excellent blade shape... my first griptilian and impressed!
