Polished Buralp Feel

Hello all! New member here and I had a question regarding polished burlap.

I am in the market for an LT Wright Bushcrafter in A2. However, the one I'm interested in has polished buralp vs traditional unfinished micarta.

I know in general, polished material isn't as grippy as matte. I was curious what polished burlap "feels" like?

Does it hold up well when wet? Is it slippery in hand?

I would think it is pretty grippy. Had my Esee 4 (Macarta) out the other day. It gets better
when it gets wet. This is linen marcartra. Canvas would be gripper. Right side.

Go ahead and buy it. It's the only way you are going to learn. :)

Typically they are polished with a wax that gets decently grippy when wet.

The good news is that if you find it too slick you can always hit it with some 400 grit sandpaper for a nice grippy ''matte'' finish if you're not a fan.
I've seen people say sandpaper. Does that infringe on the integrity of the resin in any way?

Are these polished finishes?

Welcome to the forum!😀
I've never handled burlap Micarta but I've always loved the look of it. I suspect all the versions of Micarta feel pretty similar with subtle differences. What you are doing when you hit it with sandpaper is exposing more of whatever fibrous material the Micarta is made with, making it feel more grippy. When you polish Micarta, more of the hard resin is against your skin, so it feels more smooth to the touch.
I recently purchased an LT Wright Gen5 with a matte finish. I was kind of disappointed in how slick it felt so I washed it off and just getting all the dust off it made a huge difference.
If you see an LT Wright knife you like, you better jump on it, especially a Bushcrafter in A2 with burlap Micarta. You can't get those on the LT Wright website, it must be a dealer exclusive, so once they're out of stock, it could be a long time before you see one again... if ever.

I can not find the knife as you described on L.T.'s site. https://www.ltwrightknives.com/bushcrafter-hc.html it's 1075 and natural micarta.

Send me a link.

Thanks,
Rich K.
This is the one I'm about to pull the trigger on: https://theknifeconnection.com/lt-w...at-grind-brown-burlap-handle-polished-finish/

Just not sure how the polished burlap will hold up. Every where I've researched, people talk about the matte micarta but LT no longer offers A2 bushcrafter's. So even though it's not my first choice of handle material, I was wondering how it holds up in comparison to matte micarta.

Appreciate the feedback from all!

I pulled the trigger and ordered it. Felt like missing out on a bushcrafter in A2 was too much of a risk. I really like the textured look of burlap as well.

Up next, a Genesis with scandi grind to complete the set-up!

It will outlast you.... Seriously don't worry about it.
I love LT Wright knives. I have a few.

You are new here, I hope nobody steals this away from you...in the future, don't send links until after you buy..... :)

Haha thank you for the insight. Honestly, I was refreshing constantly because I was worried about that same exact thing happening. I took the risk because I have been researching for the last week on polished burlap in comparison to non-polished micarta and could not find anything online about it. So I figured I'd ask here to get second opinions before investing into such a tool.

It's understandable.... I'm curious too about burlap.

All mine are paper, linen, or canvas.

But I know the people who have them, love them. You will too.

*I looked at that link you posted.
That's a great company, and it looks like you got a good deal
