Polished clip...not bad.

Hi all,
I polished the clip on my BM 585 mini-barrage.
I think it came out rather nice. It was also fairly easy to do. Love my Dremel...for all you Dremel owners that may wonder how long they last, mine is 38 years old and still works perfectly. I used it for nearly 15 years on a daily basis for drilling holes, sanding and polishing ivory carvings and blanks.
I used 3 different sandpapers starting with 200 grit then finished with buffing wheel and green compound...what I use for my strop as it was all I had.

I'm just curious, but why did you polish it? You didn't like black? Or was it showing wear and you just finished it off, so to speak?

Kai Winters, my Dremel lasted only 3 years but it was such a useful tool that I had to buy a replacement.

I polished my pocket clip but kept going until I got to 2500 grit and then used the Dremel and compound.
Looks OK but shows fingerprints too easily.

The clip was showing some wear but basically I just wanted to change it up a bit and polishing the clip seemed an inexpensive and fun thing to do. I wanted less a mirror polish than satin so I'm pleased with the satin look. I also sanded and polished the back side, not as much, and it slides onto and off of the pocket easier and more smoothly.
Nice job on the polish incaorchid.

Thank you.
Like you, most people prefer the satin look.
I just couldn't stop until it reflected images.
