I stripped and polished my eskabar today. Think it came out pretty nice if i may say so myself;)

I think i need to get some scales for it now though. The cordwrap just seems a little to crude for that shiny, purdy blade.

Nice. I had that same cord wrap style around my 14 for a while. It gets broken in after some use. Nice polish job. Sand paper and elbow grease or power tools??

Thanks for the replies :)

I started by stripping the coating with paint remover. Then i sanded the blade with 240 grit, then dry sanding with 1200 grit, wet sanding with 1200, and finally polished it with autosol metal polish.
It's still a bit more blurry than i'd like it to be so i'll probably give it a little more autosol lovin tomorow.
Then i'll just need to get some scales and kydex pants that doesn't dull the edge and it'll be the perfect edc blade for me.

Looks great, I have been thinking of doing the same thing to my 14. Thanks for sharing!

First of all, great job, blade looks beautiful.

But,when you polish the blade to mirror shine, and then cut some things, will the blade get strikes ,or it will stay polished ?

Looks good. I've never had the patience nor the carpal tunnels for getting a blade that highly polished. Kudos for the tenacity, NN.

Thanks again for comenting.
As to what scales i'm thinking about that depends how rich i am when it's time to order them. Just had to spend about $2000 on parts for my car, and my daughter just had her birthday so my bank acount is rather skinny. I was hoping to get some nice micarta, but then again those cryptoglow scales looked pretty awesome too. Decisions decisions:P

woody_allen: I'm not really sure how the finnish will hold up, as i haven't polished steel this way before, but i'm not too worried about it. The steel is harder than whatever i'm gonna cut, and my main motivation for doing the job was to minimize friction ta make it more servicable for fine cuts and detail work.
