I originally was going to just get the light scratches out of my 9, but then after I used 220 sandpaper, it looked too scratched up. So I then decided to use 2-4 hours to try and get a nice finish. I'm pretty sure it looks good now. :)

When I was sanding, I must have thinned out the grind because the cutting performance was increased.

Here are some pics:

Thanks for looking!

Looks great. How about some wider shots to show off that nice finish?

yea, when you sand you take off the edge bevel shoulder, so you get a semi-convex. Now get rid of that ramp :D

Yea, I had already convexed it, but I think this thinned out the blade a bit. I'm not sure about the thumb ramp though...

That looks great! I am tempted to do mine but the 2-4 hours work makes me hesitate.

I don't think I'd do it again, but if you want to, by all means do it. :)

Did you switch up the sandpaper grit then polish or is that finish all 220 grit?

Yeah, I took went 220, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, and then steel wool with metal polish. If I did it again, I would add a 400 grit.

Thanks everyone!

I have done the same to my BK7, alot of work and worth it. My 7 is a cutting machine, it seems to stay polished and does not rust or patina as easily when it has a mirror polish.

Great work,
