I have the stonewashed finish. Just to throw a wrench in there for ya.:D

Yes you need counciling. For a new collector, your starting pretty far up the ladder. I would forget the sebs for awhile and look into something cheaper that will serve you better during your learning process. Get familiar with the various steels, handle materials, designs, etc. See which best fits your use, comfortability and style. After all, you wouldn't want to grind the edge off a $350 knife but a $50-100 quality blade will sting less. My $.02

I didn't get my first seb until maybe 4-5 months ago. I've had lots of knives but never felt comfortable using an expensive blade for beating on. Not to mention, I don't have a knife 24 hours before I put my "mark" on it. One way or the other it will get scratched the first day. The seb was no different, but now I enjoy it for use rather than glitter or show.

Have you even got into sharpening yet? That's a whole other barrel of monkeys.

ive been into knives for years but only this past yearhave i been 'a collector'
my mate told me about this knife he had 10 years back which he could throw into concrete walls etc it was a cs tanto.

i had never heard of knives being htis strong so i straight away got on the net and checked out cs's website. i was selling some tattoo gearat the time so i hads cash to spend and without even considering other knives, even after reading bad reports about them here(*cant remember how i stumbled on this place) i bought an o tanto warrior series(thinking it would be as strong as a tanto but nicer looking. a hatamoto, black sable, triple action, magnum tanto IX and a spike.

i ended up taking the tanto sword back and getting afull length version. imnow in the process of selling allmy cs stuff. i own a couple of spydercos ,crkt and kershaws and gave a spyderwrench as a prestent to my brother, some knives to other family.

they all found it very funny when there were 5 birthdays in may only 1 not getting a knife and 2 getting 2.(note:check out fallkniven dv series)i also own a couple of other knives also.

after watching the cs vid i was hooked and started the 'tests' .

i knicked my beloved hatamoto and so with help from the dudes at heinne here in wales i bought spyderco and landsky sharpeners.

i can happily use the spyderco.

i used the lansky on some kitchen knives and cheap movie reps to get used to it.

i actually got the large knick out with the spyderco which i got by hitting the vice that was holding the cardboard!!doh!

the problem then was that it was totally blunt.

i was going to sendit to the general from bb who has now banned me from bb ....but anyway no hard feelings on that but i just couldnt pluck up the courage to sharpen it on the lansky delux i bought as i knew it reprofiles as supposed to just 'micro-edges' or whatever.basically do or die

about a month later i plucked up the courage to do it after encoragement from heinnie, and it went really well. im glad i didnt just go at it hammer and tongs when i got it though. now i can put a pretty decent edge on my knives with either system .

if you think i havent learned the hard way, youre wrong as i not only bought all those knives in about 2 weeks(the cold steels) , i bought them at maximum price. £290 for the sable and £240 for the hatamoto.ouch!!

now ive found benchmade im like a pig in sh*t.i got my first axis today. ive sold my hatamoto and tanto on ebay and am still trying to sell some others.

im also selling some of my tattoo machine collection. im only really selling them and the knives to buy different knives now i know more what i like. and obviously to refill the collection.

i can either buy a few benchmades/spydies or buy a seb.

the thing is is that the pound is so strong at the moment its really worth me taking advantage of it.

ive bought 2 bm's + shipping for the same price as 1 benchmade here. i can buy a regular seb from the us at the same cost of one blue or black class benchmade here!!

on the cs thing, its funny to me how wicked they seemed but how phoney they seem now, and ive only just got into this really.it seemed like there were all these famous knives, bowie, dagger, tanto etc then you could buy the same knife but made from super steel(cold steel)
there marketing just plain sucks as i now see how they make redicfulous claims like- this is the best knife ever!!everyone elses are rubbish!!

"we've set the challenge, no body else will rise to it"and this is when they dont even have the gutts to rise to the challenge of making knives with any of the premium grade steels. bar maybe the gunsites and outdoorsmans.

the other thing is that when you buy real quality gods you want to the marketting to make you feel good visa vee "rolled in the foothills of cuba, on the tanned thighs of cuban virgins....." not "mine have super frikkin powers, yours .....dont.."

anyway, i know im probably coming accross a bit eager but im just setting my knife collection straight really while its cheap to do so, well..cheaper.

DUDE! what does that have to do with the thread at hand!?

You can start your own threads, you have before.

"Eager" doesn't come close to adequately describing your posts. :(
