Hi guys I had just come across a carbon fiber scale, namely the Rick Hinderer zt 0550/1 scales and although it is very nice but I was wondering if i could polish it up to emphasize the carbon fiber? As it just sits it looks too similar to plain jane black G10. Could I start with 400 grit wetdry sandpaper and then work to 600 and then 1000? Would that work?

You would need to go to atleast 2500# paper and then maybe pink to really make it shine. You could flood the surface with thin CA and polish that out to keep from getting "the rash" from sanding carbon fiber.

@fast14riot Thin CA? what does CA stand for? sorry for my noobishness :[

Could i possibly use some sort of polishing compound?

Buff it briskly with Simichrome, Flitz, Mother's, Autosol, etc. polish.

@Bill DeShivs Thank you for the advice, do you think i can get away with just using a polish like you mentioned without sanding?

Or would I be better off doing as others have said do a thin layer of of super glue and then sand and work my way to the polish?

Thank you in advance for the advice!

That depends on the surface texture it has now. Regardless, it should still polish and look better.
Super glue is very difficult to apply evenly enough to sand down.
