Hello everybody,
I sharpen knives for a small restaurant. The owner is happy with the results. He did say a knife maker used to sharpen for him. He would buff the knives and make them look new. The buffing wheel or pad looked like wool or something like that.

Do any of you do this? What equipment, skill, and time would be needed?

Thanks,
Dave

For polishing steel I use a hard buffing wheel with white compound. That's pretty much all you need except for a grinder.

Be careful if you are using a buffer. There are may stories on this forum about buffers grabbing and turning knives and other things in to high speed projectiles.

The green Scotchbrite does have SiC imbedded in it. I made the mistake of scrubbing a car window with one. It left scratch marks on it.
