Anybody have a regular with polished flats? I've been looking all over and can't find a pic of one that isn't a graphic.

Uh... Do you mean the flats actually or the bevel? As in the hollow ground part of the blade..

Oh, I guess that wasn't clear...I'm asking about the large flat surfaces of the Ti handles (like the inlay models, but without inlays).

Ive seen a few thru the years. Some look good, some others not so much.

It's something you tend not to see done. A satin or polished surface for the handles is a rather poor finish and for a number of reasons. It may look good to some but if the knife is actually carried or used it tarnishes and marks up very quickly. It is also rather less than good when wet, bloody or with sweaty hands. The addition of graphics or inlays helps combat the above issues of a polished/satin handle and that is why you will pretty much always see them together. :)

As said above, it is not something a lot of people want. There used to be a trend of sanding the scales a bit to give them a brushed finish, but even that seems to be in a trough as far as trends go. I'd suggest that a reason for this is the blasted finish (stock) is the best combination of grip and sustainable finish (everything else shows scratches and wear more).

You could produce this finish yourself, but I do not believe that CRK prduces it. You could always call and ask if they would do a UG (with no graphics) for you?

Thanks everybody. I have a plain-jane regular coming in and am thinking about ways to combat snail trails. Fragility must explain why I haven't been able to find any examples. Maybe sandblasting would look nice (would be something I could do myself when it needs "some pretty").

Unit, I would rather have a graphic with a polished blade. Just can't find one (they sell in 5 minutes!) :)

I personally like a snail trail finish, but another option to polish is the scotchbite finish(which I find a touch slick) or you could stonewash the scale.
