Polishing Hardware

I was about to buy custom titanium hardware for my ZT560 but $100+ seems a little steep for stand offs, screws, etc. Instead, I might try removing the paint and polishing the hardware (with my favorite tool...the dremel) and wanted to see if anyone has already done it? If so, how did it come out?

a litte elbow grease and you can do anything! a good bench grinder doest hurt neither. best of luck buddy

This is the correct forum. I have also just picked up a dremel tool and have similar interests.

There are now a lot of relatively cheap polishing tools for the 1/8 inch shafted tools. I just picked up a fairly wide variety of them. Even bought some cutoff wheels. On several of my knives I have black stand offs that I would like to polish. I may start with a course buffing wheel to see what happens. I don't want to roach anything though.

I was thinking about soaking all of the hardware in a paint remover first. I'd like to see if I can remove most of the paint before switching over to the polishing wheels.

Could try Citri-strip/wire wheel/abrasive flap wheel/felt polishing/buffing. That's my usual progression for stripping and polishing most metal.
