Polishing kirinite

Hi everyone I'm about to sand down/grind a kirinite handle on my first knife but I can't seem to quite get the shine out (I tried buffing as well). What grit sand paper do you use before buffing? I'm using P600 at the moment.

Thanks for your help! :)

There's a post in another thread (linked below) which would seem to indicate the material is like plastic or nylon/delrin, which is pretty soft. If so, you'd likely need to go higher in grit, up to or beyond 1500-2000+ (with water), and probably with a light touch. P600 grit is usually more of a 'satin' finish on most projects.

I have used it several times and I like the looks a lot. It is not as grippy as micarta or G10 for a using knife, but with good shaping that is easily overcome. I have never buffed it to polish, I always wet sand to 1500 and get a nice polish from that. It works a lot like a plastic or nylon or delrin from a machinist standpoint. I have not noticed any scratching from kydex sheaths either, so I assume it is at least a little tough and abrasion resistant.
