Polishing my Small Sebbie

I would like to polish the bead blast finish from my small sebbie. Any advice on how to do this? I have 0 experience doing this type of thing.

Good question, i was thinking of the same thing; i think there is a way to use a 3m scrubber sponge. Lets wait to see what people say.

I used a green scrubber sponge and it gave the handles a nice matte finish. I'm sure a progression of finer sponges or sand paper would get your there.

I would not advise using varying grits of fine grit sand paper, as it will reduce the thickness of the handle, albiet minutely. This will show up on the logo side of the handle.

Scotochbrite pads might be ok. Fine grits of steel wool would work, too. Be sure to do it over a trash can in your garage or in the alley. I personally hate cleaning up after steel wool. Then you could use a polishing rouge with a wheel buffer or a dremel buffer.

Or, if you happen to have a bead blaster full of ultra fine ceramic blast media, instead of the typical aluminum oxide/glass bead mix,, you could get a very nice, jewelled appearance to the handles.

Good luck,
Barry

I did this to my first sebenza. I used scotchbrite, fine sand paper and then a dremel. Then slabs came out nice, but after a while you see smudges and fingerprints. I eventually sent it back to CR to be refurbished. It is as good as new now.

I would advise you to let your Sebbie be. I tried to polish a small scratch out of the blade on one of my Sebs. Boy was I sorry. The harder I tried the worse it looked. I had ruined the blade and it needed to be replaced. It wasn't cheap and needless to say I won't be making that mistake again. The point being, Chris makes his knives a certain way because he has a lot of experience and has tweeked the Sebenza to be a very fine folding knife. Heck if you need it polished, at least call CRK and see what they would charge to do it. Scotchbrite has worked well for me to even out the charachter marks.

Scotchbrite pad, or just sand to desired finish. I sanded down my old small Sebenza, and liked it ok. You can always go back to a lower grit, or blast it again if the polished look doesn't float your boat. I foolishly traded that knife away, but decided to get another which is on the way now.
I think I'll leave it alone, though. I like the "character marks" that accumulate over time, and make each knife unique. Maybe this will sound strange, but after getting dropped, banged around a little, and carried in a pocket, it was "my knife". After removing all the marks, it was just another knife. The new one (also a BG-42 small plain) is coming home to stay, unless I get one with one of the new graphic designs I like, and decide to carry that instead.
I can't stop looking at pics of the "Moon Song"(I kind of collect wolf stuff), and the "Web-Sight" Sebenzas. Very nice, and I definitely wouldn't go screwing around with the finish on those...
