hello everyone

Will polishing the titanium lockface

With japanese pical(paste)

Help lockstick?

I normally use sharpie it works but few flicks will scratch off the layer coated

Don't know what japanese pical is and Google keeps telling me I want pickle paste or other condiments. Could you elaborate?

To get the best results out of the Sharpie method, I find that I have to let it sit for a little bit before I start to flick open. Applying a few coats before use helps too.

Just curious but what knife are you referring to.

Oh hi its 'pikal care' my bad

Its Polishing paste

Its ddr custom axd kinda sticky but sharpie really helps but i tried several layers of it and dried it for long time but
Not durable

I use a pencil, just rub the lead(graphite) on the blade part of the lockup, should work. Works for me every time!

Do not touch the lockbar pressure. Reducing lockbar pressure should be the last thing you do as it can help facilitate lock failure.

As for polishing the lockface. It will probably make it worse as you will increase the surface to surface cobtact area by smothing out the grind lines of the lockface. Im assuming we are talking a titanium frame lock?

If so just keep using the sharpie ecery time it gets sticky. Some manufacturers rely of a work hardening of the lockbar. This only happens through repetitive use. This is a reason why medford doesnt like people using lubricants. If they migrate to the lockface it causes more stick and delays the work hardening process. The sharpie just helps reduce the amount of galling each time you open the knife and the process slows but it makes it much less frustrating. But i have had several titanium frame locks that were sticky. All i did was use sharpie marker. On my last knife with this issue it was a bastinelli red. I applied sharpie three or four separate times and after the lock hardened from opening and closing it the lock stick went away 100% and it never came back. Just keep the lockface dry, give it some sharpie when it gets bad and evetually it should sort itself without you needing to do anything.

I would strongly suggest againt modifying the lockface unless it is done by the manufacture.

Dont do it!
Ive seen so many knives ruined this way by inexperienced hands.
You need to Netflix and chill with that knife.....seriously just watch a movie with it and work it. Get a non-marring plastic tool to help you pry the lock-bar open if it gets stuck.
The Titanium lock-bar face will deform and make a perfect interface with the blade. You can also speed things along a bit by pinching the lock and making it bind and the use the plastic to pry it apart and repeat.. hope this helps.

You just need to apply Sharpie repetitively. You may have to apply it a few times a day at the beginning, but the lock stick will eventually subside.
I would not use Pikar, which is quite abrasive.
