Polishing tapes verus stropping

A question for all you hardcore experienced sharpeners,
which will produce a sharper edge, polishing tapes or standard strop and green compound?

Depends upon;
the steel being sharpened,
the quality of the 'green' compound,
the quality of the polishing tapes,
the grit size of the polishing tapes,
and perhaps most importantly, the skill of the user.
Any and all should be finished with a bare leather high quality professionally made razor strop of 'Russian' (the process, not the country) leather.
