Polishing washers area in 908

I think about polishing that area around the pivot where washers are for better action without any blade play. That manufacture machined satin is a little bit rough. Anyone did it successfully?

I hit the bearing surfaces with fine crocus the first time they come apart, whether they need it or not. It doesn't do much for the hardened tang except clean up any trash that may be present. It slightly polishes the bronze washers. You can also find an appropriate sized tube or rod, wrap the crocus around it and do the pivot hole.

If the action is rough, it could be either burrs or grit. In either case, the knife needs to come apart or it will take a good while to break it in get all the trash flushed out. Had a NIB north fork like this, horribly gritty. After cleaning and polishing, it has the smoothest action of all my axis locks, with rock solid lockup.

Action is not bad, very smooth for me but with very very little blade play. I think that is because they didn't polished area on blade tang where washers are in contact.

From what you describe, I'd just spray the pivot with wd40 or whatever, tighten it a little, and work it. If the surfaces are mismatched or rough, you'll see the dark stuff. Clean and repeat until there's no more black being produced. At this point it will be lapped in.
If you decide to take it apart and polish, I wouldn't use anything more aggressive than fine crocus.

I polished washers, washers area on blade and liners, because liners were rough too. It's now better, not perfect like in my old Rift, but better than was.

Know what polishes the washers and liners really well? Use.

Use it, and open and close it regularly for a month. Done.

Yeah, but if washers are working between rough surfaces it could took few years.

I did that to my 908BK-1501, as the washer areas did not look too good despite the decent action.
This is a easy knife to take the blade off and polish the washers to a mirror finish.

I have yet to see a washer polish itself by regular use..
