Polishing

Hello I am somewhat inexperienced at knife customizing. I have done a few of the Darrel Ralf kits and they have turned out fine. I am doing one for a friend and he wants it mirror polished. (It is going to be a dress knife) The last one that I mirror polished I just started with about 150 grit sand paper and worked my way up to 2000 grit I was never fully satisfied with the shine though. Is there a better (faster) way to accomplish the same or better results?

After reading some of the other polishing threads. I guess I should mention that the blade is aus8 SS.
