Poliwog versus Sage

I have an Endura 4 Brown and am looking around for one a bit smaller to go with it just for my own preference. No special use. The Poliwog looks so neat to me and the size goes real well with the larger Endura, but the Sage is a fine knife and I probably would be better off getting both only at separate times... Any opinions appreciated.
 
Is my addiction that obvious? Dang, it sure beats dickering over cameras and lenses which cost fortunes that I could not afford...
 
I started out that way too and in 4 months, I'm way gone. If I'm waiting for my orders to come I'm depressed, when I have nothing coming I'm depressed. :D , I'm only truly alive when I'm deciding on my next purchase or for about a week after I get it, Then it starts over gain. At least brain damage in minimal(I think). :D
 
Can't speak on the Sage but I recently bought a cheap Poliwog copy to see if I liked the design - so far I love it. It's got a small blade, I can definetely see chicks calling it cute, and the ergos for my big hands are amazing. Gonna pick up a real one the minute I see one at a good price.
 
Got a SS Poliwog and loved it so much I got another as backup.

Good lock and I open/close it countless times everyday for the past 3 years and the lock only traveled 2mm and stopped traveling ever since.

Poliwog is also good cause the "push dagger" feel of it. I can stab hard with firm grip with my Poliwog. Just thought you should know.
 
I personally would love to own the poliwog. It seems like it would be the most secure in your hands. I hope to get one some day. Its such an interesting knife!
 
Sage is FFG, and comes in nicer materials, but Poliwog grip puts the edge at a really nice angle when holding it. Plus it has the ball lock.

I'd probably go with the Sage, thanks to blade geometry.
 
I own both a Stainless Steel Poliwog and Sage 1!

I believe the sage is a bit lighter due to the CF and drilled out liners.
Both are extremely comfortable to hold, but with that said I feel the Sage has a bit more versatility for comfort of different grips. The Poliwog is very symmetrical so the handle tapers as it gets to the end giving you less to hold onto if you want to hold the knife farther back.

Really depends on what you want more because they really are 2 different knives.

SS Poliwog: Heavier [could go for the g10 variant of course], hollow ground blade, smaller blade, Ball Bearing Lock, Awesome ergos when held in normal grip with superior control of the smaller cutting edge, deep wire clip.

Sage 1: CF scales, Liner Lock, drilled out liners, jimping on ramp and finger choil, s30v FFG blade, Black anodized deep wire clip.

Personally I think the Sage is more of a normal/versatile edc vs. the Poliwog. The Poliwog is definitely a sweet knife to have in the collection. Like you said with time you can get both, but if you don't mind waiting on the Sage I'd get the SS Poliwog first since they are a bit harder to find if that's what you seek. I believe the g10 ones are still fairly abundant.

For the price I do think the Sage is an overall better buy.

Let me just say I have a bit of bias for the sage (own both 1 and 2). While the Poliwog is very comfortable, I just never felt it would be a knife I carry with me frequently. If you want a blade that you'll probably carry every day the Sage is a better bet.
 
I feel more comfortable carrying a Sage 1 vs an Endura. Just purely based on physical size differences. Also, I prefer the wire clip and the texture of the CF on the Sage 1 is perfect for me. It's more upscale and won't scare the bystanders as an Endura would.

Now pull out a Manix 2 and people scatter. ;) That's just a badass looking knife.
 
Since I have the Endura my thinking is the Sage might be overkill due to size, whereas Poliwog would be a nice contrast. Your thoughts? Maybe get a Sage 2 later:-))

The sage is closer in size to the Delica 4 than it is to the Endura4. It's only a little bit larger than the Delica, whereas the endura is quite a bit larger. In fact there isn't much blade length difference between the two.

i thought you would give your insight ;)

i have held both sages and a poliwog. i have larger hands and the poliwog didnt feel to good to me. the sages on the other hand just feel "right" when you are holding them.
 
i have a poliwog. i love it. as long as you dont have giant hands you shouldnt have any trouble getting a secure grip with all your fingers on it. locks up solid, really comfortable, very strong/solid contruction. i highly recommend it.
