Poliwog - Wire clip question

Why does the wire clip on my Poliwog have a different bend where it attaches to the knife scale? All of the wire clips on my spydies fold over to a tight radius , but the Poliwog clip just has a small step offset at that area. This does keep the knife riding higher in the pocket, but the regular clip seems to work just as well. Is there a functional reason, or just to be different? Anyone know why it has a different design?

FWIW, the Poliwog isn't the only model to use that style wire clip. Spyderco uses both the "waterfall" low rider style and the higher riding style clip as on the Poliwog. Not sure if there's any specific reason why some models get one, and other models get the other.

I did not know that they came with both styles. Thanks for the information. I think that I will use the clip from my UKPK and put it on the Poliwog.

Spyderco just got in a shipment of low rider BLACK wire clips that originally go with the Sage. I bought a dozen and replaced all my copper/stainless clips with black. Below is the new black clips on my pair of Poliwogs.

Those black clips look sweet! Which of those poliwogs do you like the best? Stainless or G-10?

The G-10 is considerably lighter and I find myself carrying it more but once in a while I'll use the SS as it has a little more heft to it. I like them both. Often when I pull it out of my pocket and have yet to open it, many haven't a clue to what it is. One thought it was a metal arrowhead. Blew him away once the blade swung out.
