I went to the local knife shop and brought home a shiny poliwog. It is a high tech knife. Solid comfortable unique and expensive but defiantly looks interesting, even if you don’t care for the design. only one problem, although it is a small blade, somehow, I don’t feel comfortable to take it out of my pocket in public. maybe its me, but it seems kind of an "aggressive" knife.
Anyway, it is a great knife and cool "TOY" too, and I am happy I bought it even if it's not the best for EDC only because of the "look" you might get...

I have always thought it was weird looking knife. Congrats on yours.

I have one and it has puzzled the Hell out of me when some hoplophobe sees it and thinks of it as a weapon.:(

I carry the poliwog at the office because it is supposed to look 'non-threatening'. It's very sharp and feels good in my hand. Not really great as a letter opener compared to my Ti-Lite.

Problem I have is that it is difficult to pull out of the pocket when it is clipped. There's not much room to grip it and the clip holds on pretty tight.

Anybody have suggestions on a good way to attach it and still be able to remove it quickly with one hand?

I have bought one recently for a good price and have been using it as my edc ever since. So far it works well. Although I have changed the edge like I usualy do into a lower angel polised convex edge.

congrats on your new spyder!!! you got one of the knife worlds best makers' blades.

great pictures!!!!

The Poliwog just never grew on me for some reason. And I have had Spyders in the past that I didn't like until I did use them. But I have handled the Poliwog on several occasions and it just don't float my boat. Now don't get me wrong because it is like any other Spyderco>> it is a quality built knife but not a design that I find useful.

I can do about anything with the Dodos I have here at my house that I could with the Poliwog. I hate to weigh in on a thread with a negative feedback but I guess I am saying>> Is there something I'm missing here? AS far as a short blade with a rock solid handle with ergos I still think the the Spyderco Lil Temperance is the standard of the industry. It's going to be hard for them to out-do that one.

I love the ball-bearing lock, and I really wanted to like the Poliwog enough to get myself one, especially since it's a stainless-steel-handled knife that can be disassembled! The only problem was, I am really turned off by the cutouts in the handle scales.

The knife does look kinda like what Robocop would carry, so I am not surprised to read that sheeple get all freaked out by it. But, as Homer Simpson commonly asks, "What are ya gonna do?"

I bought one a few weeks ago because of the design. You have to get used to it, but it works great.
Sometimes the blade is too small for me.

For me it doesn´t looks aggressive. No one else uses this word for this knife when I use it.

I think it might be because of all that shiny metal, combined with the "pistol-grip" look of the handle.

I have a leather thong looped through the last cut in the scales. I grab the the knot on the thong with my pinky finger to assist the thumb and forefinger when I pull the knife. Since I usually wear a jacket at the office, it doesn't show. When I'm not wearing a jacket, the polywog rides in my pocket without that telltale bar-shaped bulge that says, "knife here!"

Despite its small size, the Poliwog is built like a tank--well, maybe a Walker tank--with one of Spyderco's thickest blades; strong, stainless scales, and one of their top-rated locks.

The cut outs in the scales provide, in my view, some finger traction for gripping and also lighten the knife. Mine is a part of my regular EDC rotation.

An interesting and different little knife and obviously not everyone's cup of tea.

I have a poliwog and I think it is very cool. However, I tossed it in my back pocket once and it did a self opening and I stabbed myself really badly next time I went to get it out.

On mine, all you have to do is run your finger down the spine of the knife and it will pop open. I’m going to send it back to be checked out. I like it a lot so I hope I just have a bad sample.
