Hey everyone :)

I'm looking at getting a Polkowski knife. I've heard good things about the CRKT knife. But there's three that look good to me: Polecat, Companion, and the back-up boot.

Anybody got any experience with these? help me choose between them. How do they feel in the hand, any traits that stick out when holding it? I do a lot of outdoors hiking etc. I use a good quality multi tool for most menial stuff. And I like a knife for self-defense and anything else that a multi-tool just can't deal with.

custom.

that's why I posted here in custom and handmade.

I likely need a 4" so I need to decide between the Polecat and the Companion. Any feedback anyone can give?

People post questions about factory knives here with regularity.

Now, is the knife for hiking or self defense?

What kind of training do you with with knife fighting?

Can you carry an 8 1/2" knife concealed with comfort (self-defense aspect)?

I prefer the Polecat with its integral double guard. I just like double guards.

For self-defense as opposed to the companion I like the CQ fighter.

For concealment the companion would probably be easiest.

What kind of training do you with with knife fighting? [train regularly: had some world war II and lot of Filipino. ]

Can you carry an 8 1/2" knife concealed with comfort (self-defense aspect)? [i'm currently looking for something between 4-5" length]

For self-defense as opposed to the companion I like the CQ fighter [could you direct me to where I can get some more info on the CQ fighter?]

Thank you for you feedback. much obliged.

Could you give some more info on why the Companion is easiest to conceal? Does it's design shape just conform best thowards low profile IWB carry?

Does the double guard on the polecat affect how it feels in the hand. Are there significant differences in the the way the knives weight because of the design differences?

Hi Nmayan,

Your observations are astute and correct.

The shape of the Companion makes it easiest to conceal.

Yes, the Polecat weighs more, but I can't tell you exactly how much as I don't have one to weigh.

Your best bet for these questions would be to contact Al directly.

If you do a search on BF you will find his contact information.

He will be at the ECCKS Show in NY in about 4 weeks if you are able to make it.
