Tantos such as the Styker are gorgeous, but I've got to go with "an aggressive" clip point such as on my SOCOM. Its got a strong point and good thrusting capability - yet it can slice with the best of them.

I think the pattern is "California Clip".....the clip starts 2/3 the way back along the spine. Seen on folding toothpicks.
My AG Russell "Classic Muskrat has two of them and the "Arkansas Folding Toothpick" has another. I am a sucker for them. Class and style !

I love the clip point on my Socoms and the drop point on my Sebenza. I don't even look at folders with a tanto point anymore. Just my preferences.

Wharncliffe.It just has style!

I think this is an area where the marketing departments have gone a little haywire.

Why not more plain old drop points and clip points without all those fashoinable angles, swedges, swoops, curves . . .

I don't want my children fed or clothed by the state, but I would prefer THAT to their being educated by the state.

I think its interesting that so far only the point style is mentioned. My preference would be a drop point, but more importantly, I want a wide narrow blade that is flat ground from the spine to the edge. 3.5" or a little longer would be my choice. Indeed, the Schrade Clipit is what I want in a blade shape, but I'd like to see it done in a little more style, better steel, and certainly with a better lock.

Kind of a 'pointy' drop point. Very versitile, and a swedge dresses it up nicely if desired....

My favorite blade shape, is on my Gerber/ Paul, dropped point, flat ground, mirror finish, a real JOY!

Drop point, flat grind.
I can take a hollow grind if it is done well, such as the Sebenza.

Favorites are:
1. Clip point
2. Drop point
3. Recurve blade - w/ a drop point
4. Tanto Point
In that order, and flat or hollow ground; like 'em both.

A Drop point w/ a gradual recurved edge makes the most sense to me. But I carry an A BM 910 w/ a Hi-Geo double beveled Tanto blade.....Its just too ergonomic and comfortable to part w/ and I've never found it lacking for utility value.

This should be two separate questions, "favorite blade style", and "most usable blade style".

The drop point is probably the most usable, but I think the wharncliffe is my favorite for looks.
