I want to start a thread to shout out our favourite "Outdoors" makers. Maybe i'll find some new ones.
I have a penchant for everything handmade (and i don't just mean knives) anytime in life that i can support (or be) a craftsman I take it up.
Outside of some gifts, i don't own anything other than custom knives. I've always been amazed at why people buy factory, when a custom will often be the same price. Anyways, i digress... I don't care why you pick them, maybe you love Siegle choppers? or Koyotes Convex grinds? Doesn't really matter, if it's a knife you'd trust and buy for the bush, it qualifies. Pictures welcome of course! (these photos are not mine, they are googles)
So... What are your favourite 5 custom makers? Feel free to give a short sentence to explain.
Personally, it shifts often, but today... Right now...
1- Malanika: His puukkos are calling my bank account every time i see one. So i'm saving, and will be a buyer in a month or so. I haven't held one, but i can't get them out of my head, so they are #1 today.

2-GL Drew: Consistently in my opinion among the best purchases out there. and i will own more, AND A CARVING MAYBE??? if you're listening.

3-Bruce Culberson: He makes them just for people like us because he is people like us, Great work.

4-Duck Childress: Also on my "next buys" list. I love everything about what i've seen and held of his work. I'm partial to all small'er fixed blades.

5-Mark Wolhwend: They've been my heaviest users for years now. I can't complain, i've trusted them in some tough situations, and will continue to do so.... Anyone have a pocket puukko for me out there to pick up?

*If you're wondering what qualifies... Just look at your knife and ask yourself "do i know the name of the person that did the grinds, scales, etc... on this piece?" That should about cover it...
**If you pick more than 5 i will kill your dog...
***I wonder if any makers will peak their heads in to see if their name pops up? CAUGHT YA!
