Poll - Scale Thickness

This is kind of a 'market research' question. One of the next things I'll be adding to our growing little supply business is Dymondwood. Several customers have asked for it and, though many of us roll our eyes, we also know how it grabs the eye of a customer when it's on our table - and how cool we thought it was the first time we saw it.

But I digress. I'm going to make the big jump and stock all 52 colors. My dilemma is which thickness to get. I've always felt that the 3/8 scales were a little too beefy. I'm thinking the 5/16 thickness might make sense but, for the most part, I'm not buying this stuff for myself. Eventually, I'll stock more thicknesses but for now, it's 'either / or'. Fedback would be much appreciated.

Rob,I use 3/8 (sometimes 1/2) on most scales I cut from burl. For laminates,5/16 sounds like a good thickness.

I use 3/8" stuff the most but when I grind them down most of the handle is between 1/4" and 3/8" so that would be a good size :)

I got no problem w/dymond wood(the solid colors).I even been known to use aluminum for guards or pommels once in a while.i like the 1/4 in size for small knives,3/8th for larger.
