I like them all. The Harp Tanto looks the most tacticool. The Spanto (to me) is a more versatile every day user. The Harp Spanto is a good combination of both.
I prefer the spanto but it's really mostly aesthetic, I've never compared strength or effectiveness at particular tasks.
IMO the thread still needs pics, thanks for stepping up Ironbutt but the spanto pic cuts off the tip (where the difference really lies), and the others are harpoon which is not what we're talking about. And wharncliffe is right out!
Spanto for me. Reason being its easier to sharpen with less efforts.
Thanks for your thoughts on this.To be honest, I lusted after a Spanto grind for a long time. I thought they were one of the best grinds I'd ever seen. Earlier this year, I went on a Hinderer spree and bought a Fatty Harpoon Tanto and even thought I wasn't a tanto fan, I really started to like the grind and use it often. The last Hinderers I bought were a 3.5" and a 3" Spanto and while I think they are slightly more usable than the Tanto grind, after holding them and using them, they are more or a less an just a spear point grind.
To me the Hinderer Tanto really stands out and is really just as useable as the Spanto.
