Wich factory brands do you prefer and why is that one better then others? If your brand of choice is listed, just state it ;-) Do not forget brands like Fallkniven, Boker, Opinel, Browning...

Buck Knives- reliable quality and inovation

Spyderco- the hole, quality

Strider- tougher than nails

Busse- Awesome design, cool factor

"Swamprat"? First time I hear of this brand... do they have a site or anything, where can I get more info?

benchmade-quality of workmanship, materials, designs
Kershaw-same
spyderco-same
boker-same, except for more tradional handle materials on some
crkt-price, workmanship, materials (some can be debated)

Basic member, cannot properly vote.

So here it is.

Benchmade

1) Axis Lock
2) Assortment

Swamp Rat

1) Overall value
2) Design

It is a tough choice. There are lots of others I like, but these two are top of mind.

None, I used to buy Cold steel and BK&T and still have some pieces from each. CRKT is my choice for folders as well as PCKS. But now i have moved over to custom FB's only, i decided if im going to trust my life to this knife then i want it made right and not a folder, anything a folder can do so can a small FB(IE: Dozier). All my knives are users and all get used/abused, i would rather buy a knife thats got the maker %100 behind his work. Besides finding a good maker for user knives is not as expensive as you may think, its when you get into collectors pieces and art knives that things get expensive.

OK, ill be the first to vote for Chris Reeve, IMO the finest production folder available.

Flawless fit and finish, that's consistent from knife to knife.

Great design.

Incredibly well designed and executed frame lock. The strongest lock of its type, or any type IMO.

As tough a knife as they come.

Pricey but worth it.

I tried to vote, but it wouldn't let me. I guess I will have to become a gold member. :)

I like Cold Steel, but I just got a Peace Keeper in the mail today in the 420 sub quenched. It sucks. Stabbed a piece of fiber board and got a sizable tip-burr.

I like CK&T regardless of where they're made -- they're good for a inexpensive folder that's tough.

TOPS makes some great designs, and mine seem to hold up well to punishment.

I like SOG for my fixed-blades, and Spyderco for my folders. Both brands offer high quality at a fair price, with great customer service. I also like the fact that both companies have a great forums presence here at BladeForums, are active here, and listen to what their customers want and need.

for overall design, quality and of course price i'd go with Benchmade. Axis lock rocks, many very nice collaborations with very talented custom makers and good quality

Here's my .02 based upon what I have the most of...
Camillus/Becker. You cannot beat this line-up for what they offer and the prices they offer them at.
1. The Fisk OVB's... nuff said there. Almost TPTU (too pretty to use), but built to be used.
2. The Beckers all rock! I have the BK-9 and the BK-5, which sadly has been discontinued. I will go on record as saying this one is the best of the bunch. I have handled most of the others, but absolutely love that Fisk designed blade the best. I also like the Becker handles. They fit me well.
3. A plethora of choices for an inexpensive yet durable/functional folder of some sort. The EDC pops into mind immediately. I also have the Arc-lite... a nifty little necker. I have the carbon series stockman, and have to say this is a great little user/abuser. The 1095 takes a nice toothy edge, and I find myself grabbing this one for my "sheeple" knife quite often.
4. Great customer service. I have witnessed many examples of it right here on BFC in their forum.
5. An added bonus... Will Fennell is trap (or is it skeet?) shooting stud!

I guess I'll need to get more knives from different brands, but as of now, I can't see going wrong with Camillus!

How can you forget Camillus in the selection?
I vote for Spyderco folders, SOG multitools, and Camillus/Becker fixed blades.
