Hello, all!
I was wondering if there are any makers that work with polymer materials for knives. The only one that comes to mind is Warren Thomas, but most of his are composite/titanium hybrids, and are a tad expensive for what I'm looking for. What I want is a back-up knife for emergency kits / bug-out-bags that is innocuous looking, like a plastic picknick utinsile and not a dagger like the C.I.A. letter opener or the Blackie Collins boot knife.
Any info would be greatley appreciated!

I think Cold Steel still sells a good sized tanto point plastic knife that costs very little. It's real easy to shorten both the blade and the handle a bit using a hacksaw or some other kind of fine tooth saw, and then reshape to suit your needs with a file. Finish the edge with emery cloth or sand paper and you're good to go. While I question the idea of this being a backup knife for anything more serious than making sandwiches, it might be just what you are looking for.

Thanks for your replies.
The Combet Elite is too much a "weapon" in appearance for what I'm looking for, but a cool design none the less.
The re-shaping of a Cold Steel plasti-blade sounds feasable, and would would fit the bill in terms of both looks and cost.
"While I question the idea of this being a backup knife for anything more serious than making sandwiches..." LOL! I know that this type of knife will never be as strong as a metal blade, but it's not really ment to be. "hide in plain sight" is more of what I'm thinking about, and if I have to defend myself while I'm making those sandwiches, I'll have the weapon in-hand.
