Evening from the dark and cold of Alaska!

One of my favorite things about this time of year is taking the dog for walks in the deep and cold dark. I have been a knife-lover for ages, but not very sophisticated in flashlights. So, I am turning here, since many of you seem to have a developed... umm... fondness for them!

I currently own a Streamlight Scorpion LED (older model) and a Streamlight Polytac. I LOVE the Polytac. After years of carrying the Scorpion, I decided to go with it as it wouldn't get beat up as much in my front pack. The difference between the two shocked me. Holy smokes. LED technology has come a long ways.

Now, we're coming up on winter solstice again and I can't help but think I "need" another light for these dark walks. I would prefer polymer and CR123's, but I'm open for suggestions. Does need to be compact. I realize this may be (is) a broad question... So give me your favorite in that category. Is there a solid, workhorse, classic, high-end light that I need in my front pack?

Thanks BF!

I can imagine polymer would be best in the cold! Honestly though I don't know of any other polymer CR123 lights out there other than Surefire and I think perform and would be a tie. If it ain't broke why fix it? Take care!

take a look at pelican lights, polymer, good warranty, but not the best as far as output regulation compared to some others.

Thank you Charlie Fox! Yes, the polymer is much kinder on bare skin with the cold... Much much kinder.

Gadgetgeek - Excellent suggestion! I had forgotten about Pelican's line of lights. I believe they do some rechargeable options...

Regulated output is important , but I can do with a little less in that department since it is going to be used daily for walks and have lots opportunities for recharging.
