poncho as a bivy sack

fold it in half and snap the brass buttons together to form a sleeping bag cover. I have used this several times and it worked very well at keeping dew off of me. If your looking for rain protection, I would'nt use the poncho in that way, instead I would simply tie up the poncho into a nice lean-to shelter.

Myakka's got it. If you're in a CW environment or it's gettin chilly, invest in a poncho liner and do the same thing but strip to your skivies or take your shirt off. Also put your wet clothes in the bottom of bivvy sack and that'll dry them out. Make sure it's a newer liner. The one's we got in the Corps were always old, worn out, and stank to high hell. Wouldn't rely on it for lower than say 4OF; Even then you're pushing it. If you have to use it as such in an emergency, if you wanna rough it, or weight's a big issue, stuff some pine needles in there. Hope this helps a bit. :D
