Pondering: Orange G10 Manix2 or blue FRN Stretch?

Title says it all.

Looking for a new knife, and it's down to these two. My mind says Stretch because I love everything about it, but my heart says Manix because it's orange and sexy.

C'mon, you guys...sell me on the Stretch! Or don't...

Any info on the orange manix?

Just ordered my orange Manix 2 from Jeff at CS. A blue stretch would be nice but I'm a sucker for orange G-10 and the Manix 2 is a great knife. Add in that this is only a 600 piece exclusive and I couldn't pass it up.

The only S30V spydies I'd consider at the moment is a millie or a chinook, so I pulled the trigger on the blue stretch.

I would get the Stretch, but I don't like orange at all, so I guess I'm no help:p

The blue Stretch are pretty much gone at the closeout prices. I would get one if one can be found at a good price. Does anyone know if Spyderco is planning on making more ZDP FRN Stretch in the future?

Yes, a "rolling change" to British Racing Green.

I'm almost positive that I was told by a dealer that more blues are expected in December.

Accept the fact that you will eventually own both and go for both of them now. Take a deep breath, get out that credit card, and buy both. It is our collective fate as knife lovers that makes us want.

Stretch if the price is right. Manix if you simply must have the orange. Unless you plan on actually using the knife in a more rugged manner I can see no real reason to take the manix over the stretch beyond aesthetic preference.

I just received my zdp stretch 2 days ago. Me gusta mucho.

Orange G10 is great for a work knife or camping. It's a little loud for an EDC knife. It's very noticeable peaking out of your pocket. The orange also highlights every spec of dirt.

"Both", unfortunately, isn't an option:(( or I'd have sprung for it.

It is basically down to Manix design plus ORANGE!!! versus Stretch steel, Stretch lock, Stretch handle material, plus blue :)

Dangit... I don't like S30V, but I adore orange.

Anyone still have the Stretch at closeout listed? All I can find show it's no longer in stock, at least at the closeout price. Already ordered the orange Manix 2 but after looking at the Stretch and not having one I'm getting the urge to add one to the collection.

I second this request - could always use another :D

Getting both solves the dilemma of which knife to get, but adds another - how to pay for them. I'm the wrong guy to answer this question, come to think of it. I already have the Stretch and just pre-ordered the orange Manix.

Coin flip?

Given that the color is the only thing being discontinued, and there are probably about as many people who prefer blue over green as visa-versa, it almost seems odd anyone discounted them at all.

As for the OP's question, both are excellent knives. Really comes down to personal preferences. The Manix 2 is definitely the more robust of the two, but I prefer the Stretch myself. It's a bit more compact, a bit thinner, and the midlock is easier for me to operate.

I would go with the Stretch, but in carbon fiber. Its awesome. It may be a tad thinner than the FRN Stretch, and has a very solid feel to it. Superb ergos and blade profile. Nice and grippy, unlike some carbon fiber.

A nice division of opinions here :(

If I can find a XHP Manix I will go with that, failing which I'll get a Stretch of some sort.

Or a Caly3.5 :D
