That is looking sweet.. we need some shop pics! kmg looks too clean!

I'm getting closer to finishing up this harpoon tip, I still need to attend to some minor details and make a sheath.

Thie finish is a combination of acid etched, fine scotchbrite polished on the back and sides, and a high-polish tip and bevel.

It was differentially hardened, the handle and spine were not fully hardened, the handle only has 2 holes for maximum strength; this makes the "knocker" at the end very functional. The choil works well as a grip when using it as a hammer if you have to.

This has the new 3 color MCAM for scales with torx screws for hardware. The handle comes off for cleaning and because it's cool that way.

hmmm specs? and I'll take it :D

:D

5.5" blade not counting choil
5.75" rest of knife
11.25" long .262 stock
5160 steel
Chisel grind - the back is a fine scotchbrite finish and the front acid etched

I'll get some more photos up later. :D

I worked on the handle a bit more, I really wanted it to be symmetrical and now I feel it is good. It really shows with the MCAM. The holes are chamfered a little deeper and more evenly as well. I have everything soaking in ballistol right now. Kydex is molded but not shaped...

hey, how do you shape the MCAM scales? with a chisel or.... looks like the left side top has a spot that could have less black to match other side.. but I think they look great, and with them on the knife, it won't matter.... you just brought a small detail to my OCD brain I wouldn't have noticed otherwise :)

ballistol.. I needs to buy that shiz..

I shape them with ceramic belts on my KMG 2" contact wheel, sometimes I use my 1" small wheel. I want a dedicated horizontal KMG since I like to do the handles this way...

I tried grinding them with diamond equipment and it was slow, G10 is tough stuff. My avatar chopper was done with a half round file.
