Hi

I just got the knife today, after seeing a thread on the vantage force - i made quick google search and bought one from overstock.com true impulse buy.
I never bought anything there, overstock, before.

The knife has clearly a jagged edge as if chipped when sharpening or used? Plus it is dull for a super steel does not shave hair - i check every knife this way. From a $5 knife it is ok not a $50 one.
In addition the grind is strange that it is not strait there is clear dip in the middle back when held the box over the edge. Was resharpened after being returned too buck?

What i find strange, since i carry a sandman all the time, one of my favorite cheapy knives i have a few was it did not come in plastic just the box. Every buck has a wrapper this one did not. I think I got scammed.

Also called it "select knife" - like meat? I buy choice and prime not select!

[sorry it came from xxxxxxxxxx- pm me

is this a used knife? or second? or what?
I like too know before i take further action with the seller.
thank you!

There is a Select version, an Avid version and a Pro version of the Vantage Force. You got the Select version, which is the lowest version and not a "super steel" it has 420HC. Not all knives come in plastic wrappers. As for the the chips and grind, either send it back to the seller or fix it with a quick 5 minutes on a diamond stone and be done with it. It's not worth talking about for hours...

this is used, the coating is marked up as i look at it, thank you

it will go back, or i get a refund and keep it and complain too the AG

talking about for hours? that was rude! simple post! i have a lot of buck knives, and about 300 knives. RUDE

The knife is mis-represented in the link you provided. It states that it has S30V steel which is false.

thank you i am going after them with the AG, and BBB

box is marked select

here is the ad:

i am posting this for the buck people incase they want the info. i acutally think it is a used 30v the edge looks like what happens too high v steel when not used right and poorly refinished, it appears it is a return some one reprofiled the edge.

If the blade was S30V it would be marked as such. Same with the 13C26 Sandvik used in the Avid models. If the blade doesn't have one of those along with the Bos symbol on it, it's 420HC.

thank you!
i kind of figured it out, but i appreciate your help - my edc is well broken in sandman. clip screw holes are stripped from so many years.

i also have with me a custom loveless fighter by jesse davis, but i carry the sandman a lot. i have a few.
the rath of the dragon is unleashed on OS.idiot

Dragon, wasn't trying to be rude but the answers are pretty self explanatory, if you aren't happy with the knife send it back. The amount of threads on this page bashing the Vantage are staggering and most that frequent the Buck page of BF are sick of seeing them. So, I apologize if I offended you.

Just being a friendly moderator and reminding folks this is a Buck forum, we all have some other knife interests but lets make sure most photos and discussions touch on Buck subjects or include Buck knives. Also when purchasing knives from sellers on the edge of the knife universe, be aware of counterfeits, see the sticky above for examples.

Most of the time if the time if the buyer knows exactly what he or she is looking for and buys from a reputable seller lemons are few and far between, but when buying on the computer its always buyer beware, always use a seller you've used before, and know if there is an issue you can return or exchange the item without a problem.

i turely appreciate all of your feedback~

thank you~

and a bow - peace be with you (unless you must deploy your edc)

thx guys!

I'm glad you got a refund, all the Buck knives I've bought came shaving sharp.

It has been pointed that I failed to ID a Buck in Mr. Dragons photo. I admit guilt and express to him 'sorry'. My narrow mindedness on knife models has shown thru.....never be shy to point out to the moderator his mistakes. I dropped the ball but am still in the game............

Still, I request all Buck forumites to be sure they along with visitors include something Buck in 99.2 % of their posts.
