I m working on my dedicated surface grinder ,soon will be finished .BUT in emergency and if you have not surface grinder you can do that .....this way .If I told you what tolerance I get with this setup you would no believe ......
Of course at the end depend on your skill to do this right way .Here's how i did it . On my faithful stainless tube/jig i put double side tape ,thick one .I have no idea what brand it is this I have ,only Made in Canada i can read .Next glue blank what you want to grind to tape ,lower side align with tube so both will make contact with work rest ...Adjust your work plate at 90 degrees towards belt .Place jig on work rest and push in belt to align.NOW take some straight piece of whatever you have and place behind jig ...clamp that part start your grinder and uniformly move jig and grind ...after several pass stop . Turn off grinder ,release clamp push all again in belt ,clamp again and repeat the process ......
This is about 10 mm steel cut and straighten from ball bearing ,now it is 7mm and straight to 0.0....
and here are blank from that , after hardening I will grind it to 6mm ...it will be distal taper blade .I need that thickness because i plan to do some things on steel on handle
