I made a run over to the local park to drown some waxworms :D There were several Mexican young men fishing with pop bottle reels . One guy was casting nearly as far as I was with a rod. I am going to have to play with these for a while I was impressed on how well they worked in the hands of some one familiar to using them. They would set them then lay the bottle on the back side of the seawall and if something took off it would just unroll

i've seen these in action at the lake in the center of austin. they work great & for a fishing backpacker make his load lighter & much more portable. one needs use only 50 or 100 feet of line & you can carry lots of backup extra line. this only works for baits not lures. in a pinch one could use a smooth piece of wood. i would'nt try to land a 20 lb. catfish ,but how often do those come along?dennis

Gibbons - There's a name I have not heard for a while. Grape Nuts - They have the flavor of wild hickory nuts. Died at a relatively young age I believe.
