At the New York Knife Show in 1980 I met a fellow named James Poplin. Jim was a postal worker at the time and part time knife maker from Washington, Georgia it was obvious that he was a talented maker but when I picked up one of his knives I realized that this was one of the finest knives I had seen at the show. In the 38 years since, I have yet to see a finer belt knife.
