"Popcorn" stag?

I am guessing that the term "popcorn" stag is used to describe stag with lots of the bark intact and with an appearance of lots of smaller "bumps" (can't think of a more descriptive word). Does that sound about right?

Lumpy, pebbly surface as opposed to the normal grooved surface found on Sambar stag. Red deer on the other hand has a smoother surface looking like jigged bone instead of the heavy grooves of the Sambar.

Don, you might try Luca at www.elenhunting.com

I'd call him, though, as it's sometimes tough to find exactly what you want on his website, and he has huge inventories.

I would have benefited from this information before, but now I have destroyed about a hundred stag pieces putting them on the microwave and pressing the "popcorn" buttom... :D

I agree with fitzo and call Luca, he cut some very nice Sambar for me that he didn't have listed on his site. Here is some Sambar popcorn that I got from him a few months ago, not sure if he still has some available.
