I have always wanted a busse knife! i was in the market for a 6 inch and really liked the combat jack so i pulled the trigger on it! this will be my first busse cant wait to use it!

don't know a whole lot about this knife, what can you guys tell me about it? i really don't think i will be unhappy with it, but i was wondering if anyone had issues with it? if so what were they? i see it is compared to the SAR 6 and SAR6 seems to win that battle due to chopping ability but chopping ability to the side. how do they compare?

the boss jack is a very nice all around knife. it's thin enough to slice but has enough umph to chop if need be.

For the money a CG BOSS Jack is the way to go.

I don't care for how thick the protos were as they had to be ground down a ton to get a decent slicing capability. But the new CG's sound like they won't have that problem though and should be a great overall blade. The SAR 6 is still a much bigger knife overall so it makes it hard to even compare them objectively to each other.

But apples to apples or Satin to Satin, it's a whole different story as that makes it tougher to choose just one. The key difference for me is thinner stock with the no choil option for the BOSS Jack LE to justify it as a compliment to the SAR 6 with each having their strengths complimenting the other's weaknesses.

If your hands are small to medium size then you could skip the SAR 6 and go with the BOSS Jack. Large and above the SAR 6 might feel better.

What are your needs or intended uses for the blade and which one do you think will serve you better a majority of the time?

The BOSS Jack LE will make a great hunting/EDC type blade and the SAR 6 is more of a woodsman's blade. The reason I say this is I suspect the LE's will weigh around 10 oz and make a lightweight 6" blade great for pretty much everything but chopping vs the 16 oz of the SAR 6 which will do everything pretty well including chopping.

In the end, it's still a tough call to pick just one of the two.

The boss jack is to the sar6 what the dssf is to the nmsfno, it's a slimmer lighter package that maintains the length, giving it a faster, lighter, more compact feel without sacrificing so much chopping power that it feels less capable or in a different class of knife.

If you want the biggest burliest package you can carry in that size category of knife, go for the sar6. If you want the most compact knife that's still fully capable in that size category of knife, go with the boss jack.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

What options did you go with? Cg or Le? Choil or no choil? Handle choice? If CG, what color finish?

I predict you will love it! The old satin jacks are classics, and in my opinion the new ones are even better!

They tweaked the handle to gibe it more depth of grip fop a better purchase at the front finger!

Thanks a bunch guys for all your replys! i went with the combat grade also got a choil i actually use it and find it useful on mid size knives, then finished it with tan canvas handles on a black blade. (love the look of g-10 but won't give up the feel of canvas, don't like to use gloves and the canvas helps with that! I haven't received the knife yet but i can already tell it won't be my last busse! I went with the lighter knife because i normally have a chopper with me so this will be my knife!
