Popped my kershaw/zt cherry. Changed everything.

So about a month ago I decided to pick up a zt 301. I've been in the military for over 12 yrs and a majority of my knives were issue and pretty good, benchmades, sog, microtech long list. I've never really had anything I felt could do anything. My zt has changed my thoughts. My question is for the family here what do I get now that's comparable? I'm picking up a xm24 next month direct but are the 560's as solid as the 301's? And the 777, has that made it into hands now that can say if it's worth the cost? My wife budgets me and I like users just because of the price discount, I have a trade thread running so if anyone wants to dump a 560 or a zt that's rugged like the 301 hit me up. I look forward to hearing thoughts. I've done some reading of course but hearing from other military, Leo that abuses their gear is the best for me. Thanks all. And thank you kershaw. You couldn't take my 301 away with a shotgun.
 
Yeah, the 301 is a beast;)

As for the 777; It's not out yet. And to be fair, if you're not on a list for it by now...You won't get it.

0560 VS. 0301 -> The 0301 is tougher, but the hinderer design is a stout one. It's sleeker, lighter and faster feeling, a truly awesome blade.

For your intended use however i would actually send you in the direction of the 0550 as it's more hand-filling and I dear say more robust than the 0560. I've got all three of them and would actually take the 0550 over the other two in a pinch. That said, it's ugly with the G10 scale the way it is, but it makes for a good grip. Additionally, since ZT has changed their Design on it, you can now choose between the lowrider or normal clip!

I'm not a LEO or military man, but having worked in construction, roadwork, and in mud/snow for a long time... I know how to use a knife to it's limits:rolleyes:
 
You got it right on your first go, the 0301 is the beast of the bunch. Bigger, stronger, better. If you want a tougher ZT you will have to get a 0100 or 0121 fixed blades.

I concur with bob. If you want another folder i would go with 0550 or 0200. the 0560 is big and tuff but these are in my opinion tuffer folders.

Agreed completely. The 0550 is more stout, and has proven to me to be a ways tougher than the 0560.
 
As much as I like my 0560 I would have to recommend the 0550 over it. The 0200 is great but since you already have a 03xx I would go with the 0550
 
I agree with the others on the 550. Have had mine for 3 months and it is butter smooth to open and close and locks up tight. I also have a 301 and while it is being carried in place of the 550 I would go back to the 550 anytime for how well it all comes together. You really get all the marbles for a great price with both of these.
 
Awesome to hear this about the 550 since I just went with it over the 560. Still waiting for it in the mail anxiously :D
 
I love my 0550... Well actually I love all of my ZT knives, and if you ever "choose one over another" I wouldn't worry because you will be so impressed by whatever you choose.... It will only be a matter of time before you pick up the "other" as well.
 
the ZT 560 is plenty tough but the 550 is more so, i LOVE my 560 and plan to get a new style 550 when i can afford one as well as a 301 :D
