I was about to pull the trigger on another brand's skinning knife, but decided to visit Hog Cult to see if Busse ever made a good skinning knife and came across the PBS.

Has anyone ever actually USED one to skin something out?
How well does it work (thinking from rabbit to deer)?

What color options were available?

You just missed out on one of these - there was an orange/black G10 handled one sitting on the table at Blade West. I was VERY close to having my proxy pick it up, but I had so much other steel in my box that I had to hold off. I wonder who ended up snagging that one.

the pbs came with most blade finishes except satin, moss, polish, and bama. the handle's were micarta and g-10. i don't remember all of them, but they included snake, black paper, black/ tan canvas, and most of the solid g-10's.

i think it is a little to big for rabbit. usually i split the skin in the middle and pull like crazy. anything smaller than a cat is a little tricky. now for deer it is wonderful. you can place you index finger at the top of the blade and zip right through the belly without busting the gut. caping out the animal is also a cinch. it flow's nice in the hand, and there is a lot cuttimg surface to work with. the tip is also handy in them tight spot's like the neck, and rectum. if you sharpen the "swege" of the blade you get a great pull cutting surface, like a cat's claw.
