Pork shank or elmax

Pork Shank. I prefer the shape of the handle. I would like to try the Busse ELMAX but not with that handle, though I have held neither.

I don't have any for sale now so I'll chime in.

The Elmax has a VERY comfortable handle, comes in what I believe to be an excellent stainless steel, and is a super slim and wicked slicker. I actually like it better than the handle on the Pork Shank which, for me, was too flat along the top of the handle. If you like the feel of the Cultie and the DSF you will probably like the Pork Shank handle but I prefer a slight curve with a drop towards the butt of the knife like the Active Duty. I feel that a slight curve makes the knife fit into your hand better as your palm has a natural curve.

If the knife is for slicing (a la Steak) go for the Elmax. If the knife is for more general use, and you like a flat back, go for the Pork Shank.

I like both but the shank is another monster completely. If I had to choose one that would be best suited for my use, it would be the much thinner elmax blade as I dont do much hardcore cutting with smaller blades and even if I needed to Id put my life on the elmax granted I dont have to pry a door open with it. I also think its one of the best looking Busses ever. The original steak knife was amazing, just a bit pricey and not many at all produced in the one version they came (less then 12?). Minus the real cool polished G10 insert in the handle of the original, I prefer this chunkier one piece handle on the new steak knife with elmax. Very excited to get to try this elmax out in such a blade.

neither, i have yet to see either one spread peanut butter, or cut onion's.

Two very different knives. But if you get a chance at the Elmax...get one. It's a piece of Busse history (in that it's Elmax).

I used mine to assist in consumption of my Induction dinner...love it! There were witnesses to my use, I assure you. Only worry was cutting thru the plate into the table so I used care, these are nice and sharp.

I have handled a PS before and wasnt a fan of the feel for the same reasons Vox explained. If those are your only two choices I would go with the Elmax even tough I have never held one. I have held knives with very similar handles and can tell you that to me they feel great! Ill let you know for sure on Thursday or Friday. :D

Jball, if you have another recommendation then i am all ears. I am looking for a GP knife that can handle the small stuff. Not looking for a beater, want more of a slicer.

DD- Fair enough. I get paid on friday so show me know how I can help you get back on the good sauce.

Wish I could bro but all out of sellers. If slicer is what you seek then you wont find a more practical slicer from busse. I havent used mine yet but its not rocket science that it will indeed serve its purpose very well.

+1 on the BAD. These new ADs from Blade'13 would also fit the bill. Also consider the Leaner Meaners from this past show.
