Portable Audio Suggestions?

I bought a used jeep last year. It came with a decent stereo and a sound bar. At least I think it's called a sound bar. It has speakers in a housing that attach to the role cage just behind my head. Anyway, the stereo finally got wet too many times and died. Instead of replacing it, I'm thinking of just running my iPod through the speakers with an amplifier in between. The problem is, I have no idea what I'm doing. The Jeep is noisy enough, that I'm not trying for great sound. Any suggestions on a cheap amplifier or suggestions for wiring and making it portable?

Then a cheap multi speaker box from any car store with the amp screwed on the back.

Not pretty at all, but should work. Read the reviews on the items. and you can talk for free via their phone number.

I'd look at the "stereos" they put in boats. Same designs, and made for 12V system but the amp/controller (and speakers if you choose) are supposedly waterproof. They're usually white instead of gray/black though.

Use to have a jeep with that soundbar thing. Put some cheap sony x-plodes in the bar and a real cheap 8" woofer in the back. Night and day difference in sound quality.
