Well I'm going to take the plung and buy a Dewalt Portaband.

DWM120K VARIABLE SPEED BAND SAW

What are the best blades to buy for this machine?

I will be cutting up to 1/4" steel, all types

Thanks

Will

I just buy mine from "Not-So-Lowe's". The name brand is "Wolf-Brand" and they are made by Lenox.

The price is right and they hold up as well as any I have used in this size.

I just purchased one also. I got my blades from McMaster Carr. They are Starrett Bi-Metal blades. I got two 18 and two 24 tooth per Inch. 24pi is only for very thin metal. They are great.

Thanks guys for the info,

Down the road I may purchase a stand but for now I'm going to make something up.

Thanks again

Will,

I was going to do the same thing, but the Swag stand was so inexpensive and solid that I ended up just going for it directly rather than waste the work. While I was saving up, I just put the bandsaw in my vise.

Incidentally, the Swag stand is made of much thicker stuff (1/4", I think) than it appears in the photos.

The SWAG is a nice one.

It is VERY WELL MADE. I too was going to rig something up but just decided to bite the bullet and buy it. Could not have made a better decision!!

You guys are talking me in to it.

It wont take much more arm twisting and a SWAG will be on the way.
