Portable cd/mp3 players

So, I'm starting to consider buying one of those CD/MP3 players, and I'm a little behind on the technology. Honestly, I don't really need the MP3 function, but I might as well have it. What I'm really looking for is a lot better battery life with shock protection than my current cd player - which will run something like 3 hours with the shock protection on - and barely plays cds at all with it off. Did I mention that it takes 4 AA's?

Reading a little bit from a google search, I found out that some of the more modern ones will run like 115 hours. Which seems like it would be a lot better and cheaper.

Anyone have recommendations as to a good, small, lightweight long battery life CD player with MP3 playback?

The less expensive, the better. Also - I'd love a recommendation as to where to buy it.

Thanks,

If you're looking for battery life, then Sony's a good choice.
If you want quality sound then look at IRiver.
Go here to look at different Sony models.

Go here to look at Iriver products.

As far as places to buy, I've found stores like Best Buy and Circuit City to have poor selection.

I got my Iriver slim X350 at
www.thenerds.net/.
They had the best online price at the time. There are a bunch of online retailers that offer better prices than local stores. Just start looking by doing Google searches for the products you're interested in.

Compressed audio stream.....

You can select the quality of the audio at the expense of file size. One CD in normal format is 80 minutes. In MP3 format, it is hours of music.

Philips has some great stuff, worthwhile checking out. I don't know about the prices, but those are most of the time okay.
