My wife and I have been considering buying one of the new small dvd players that plug into your car cigarette lighter,and runs off batteries.Does anyone know anything about these?are they fairly reliable?namebrands?Options?and finally where is a good place to order or buy one?

I was thinking about the same thing a while back. My solution was to get a Dell Laptop with a 14" screen. The price was right and the big screen makes it worth the extra few $.
When I compared the portable ones to the Laptop there realy wasnt much in favour of the player.

I have a Panasonic that I am quite pleased with. It was actually our first DVD player and we hooked it up to a big-screen TV with great results! On a full charge, I can watch about 3 hours.
I don't think I have seen one with a car adapter? Maybe the newer ones have them.
One thing to watch out for with most portables: don't let it sit on your lap/thighs/knees etc. without some kind of protection - the bottom of the unit can get VERY hot.
