Seeing as i can't get away this weekend, due to work being done on the Motor for its MOT

I thought i'd make a portable Hoy/Cold smoker Cooking System

Its just basically an 18in x 3 ft Square box, on legs that unscrew for portability

I had an old Brinkman smoker but couldn't get on with it, so cannibalised the racks and waterbowl from it

You can cook on the Gas bottle Burner, and set it up as in the pics for hot Smoking

Am having some 4in elbows made by a mate, and going to fetch 3 more lengths of 4 in pipe from the Army stores, then will move the Smoker 12ft away from the Burner for cold Smoking

Am just waiting for the softwood to burn off, then will put the green oak on and will be trying it out with a full Chicken, will post more pics as i go along

The gas Bottle burner,i never had much success with it,but placed to bricks inside and made a metal rack to raise it it works a treat now

It now boils a cup of water in no time,so will be ideal for a Frying Pan or cooking anything on top

Very good my man! I smoked 20 lbs of turkey breast this past weekend in my brinkman. was the hit of the party! Had a hard time keeping the temps up (cold, windy, rainy last weekend) but at the end of the day they were done and not dry! I used beer and water in my bowl and injected the breasts w/ melted margerine and garlic powder. Was delish!

Is the smoke box plywood or strand board, If so I might would have a concern with the glues used in their manfuracturing some are know to have formaldehydes. Other than that everything looks great.

I'm inspired! I LOVE smoked turkey -- never had a smoked chicken....going to have to give it a go. Any pictures cut? How did she taste Bernie?

I am definately going to have to make a poncho or parachute smoker the next time I hit the treeline. I've really been down in the dumps lately, had the pack ready to go with the food and everything for two whole weeks now, but have had debilitating knee pain, and for the last week some major digestion problems (I think I may be recently lactose intollerant after spending 21 years drinking a gallon + a week). I'll add this to my list of activities to do, all it takes is a couple of sticks and some sort of flexible material with green wood chips. For a long term survival scenario it's a must, you can pack it and piece it together in no time and it's very effective for smoking fish and all kinds of meat.
