I start by showing the oldest Portuguese knives, made in various shapes and styles.

I would like to thank everyone who visits this Forum and has Portuguese knives, please post them so we can get to know them.:)

It's always a pleasure seeing the knives in your collection. I think you have excellent taste. I don't have very many Portuguese knives, but here's a few. More to come soon.

These are pretty roughly finished, but definitely unique and they feel good in hand. The small one is boxwood with a 75mm blade, the larger in oak with an 85mm blade. An interesting take on a lock back.... You simply lift the hooked back spring with the 'tab' on the end to close the blade.

I know there are some really good Portuguese makers out there, I have only been seeing the good everyday knives, which to me are what the common person would carry and use. I like those. Are there any well known makers? not art knives.

Thank you for the question. 👍
There are several knife factories (Icel, IVO, Curel, etc.), but I like the artisans and one of my favorites is Carlos Norte from Lombo de Ferreiro.:)
This is an example that I love.;)

Features:
- Handmade
- Open length: 17 cm
- Closed length: 9.5 cm- Weight: 60 g
- Blade: Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel, hardness 58-59 Hrc with 7.5 cm
