We've had a fair number of threads on negative things people who aren't into knives say, something that happened during the weekend made me think it would be nice to list some good reactions or positive comments we've received when using our knives in public.

Anyway, on Sunday I was eating lunch after training using my 0550 to slice a chicken breast and some vegetables. A guy I know walked by and complimented me on how sharp the knife was and asked whether the blade coating had any practical advantages.

Later on that same day, I took out one of my knives to sharpen a pencil at the gym and a lady asked me about the knife since she liked it and was looking for some input about a gift for her grandson who's getting into camping and mountain biking.

Since I started selling knives I get asked by my friends all the time what I am carrying. Sometimes they jump back when I pull out a bigger ZT or a fixed blade. Most of the time though they love what I have and talk about how they should carry a knife. Actually converted a few of my friends who saw no practical purpose to carrying a bigger knife or a knife at all. I think my biggest conquest to date was selling a ZT 0350 to an attorney friend of mine who used to chastise me for carrying such a large knife! That to me was the ultimate victory!

My orange handled Dragonfly 2 gets many an admiring comment from co-workers, and women in particular gush over it, calling it "cute" or a "happy little knife". Beats the heck out of walking an 8 week old Lab puppy in order to strike up a pleasant chat with the fairer sex...and no pooper scooper required. :p What more could a guy ask for?

I showed my secretary my Mnandi with the mammoth ivory scales and Damascus blade.

She said she never knew knives could be so pretty!

Same experience here...when I have directed ladies to a custom builder page on occasion, esp. one with smaller or neck knives in Damascus and maybe a few colors...it' works almost like cherry vodka in high school.
